3 Wind Kraft Monsters in Schöneck, Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Hessen |

Today is a very sad day for the country side of Hanau and the Main-Kinzig-Kreis.
The first section of the “Wind Kraft Monster” in Schöneck/Kilianstädten has now been installed.
Sadly, this monumental installation will totally destroy the country side in the whole Hanau region, especially the regional park Hohestraße, Schöneck/Kilianstädten, Hanau Mittelbuchen, Brucköbel/Roßdorf, Heldenbergen/Windecken, Wachenbuchen and Niederdorfelden, just to mention a few. Over the last ten years hundreds of people living in these towns and villages have protested against the installation. Not only because of the destruction of the landscape but also against the lack of qualified environmental and economical equilibrium, taking into account the huge subvention given to the investor in relation to the predicted power generation of the installation.
An installation of this size (3 x 200 meter monsters) in the middle of 6 small towns and villages with an estimated population of around of 50.000 inhabitants is the height of irresponsibility and absurdity based on the wind conditions prevailing in this area. The country side in an area of at least 100 km2 will loose a major part of the landscape acceptance for any recreational and tourist attraction for any potential holiday makers. What is difficult to understand is that the only one which will profit from the investment will be the investor themselves as they will be financially compensated. Of course the energy, which will be generated, will be CO2 free, but it will take at least three years to compensate the CO2 emission produced during the fabrication of the huge steel constructions and the very large diesel generators (without soot filters) which will be in operation for at least nine months during the wind Kraft monster installation. When and if any financial feedback to any local government will take place it will be to Kilianstädten only. The other towns and villages will just look in sky and be the losers with only the disadvantages and absolutely no advantages. The SPD mayor Mr. Claus Kaminsky and the politicians of Hanau have totally ignored, what has been happening in the Mittelbuchen community over the last years giving no moral or political support. I can only hope that the predicted power generation will be scrutenized in every detail and the predicted and actual results given to the public. It would be very interesting to know when a decision would be made to dismount the monsters if the promised energy production prediction is not achieved and who would bare the costs of bringing the environment back to its original status?
The Schöneck SPD together with the green party and under the leadership of the mayor Mr. Ludger Stüve have pushed this project for years and I’m sure that it’s mainly a personal ambition rather than an environmental achievement. I am also sure that many people will wake up when they see this monster over shadowing the whole Schöneck community.
A final statement could be: Goodbye Schöneck (beautiful corner will no longer exist)
